| | How do I convert Quickbooks data? |
| Resolution | NOTE: Sage and QuickBooks must both be installed on the same machine that’s going to do the conversion. If QuickBooks is installed after Sage has been installed, then a repair install of Sage must be done before you can convert QuickBooks. 1. Prepare for the QuickBooks conversion - Verify the QuickBooks company name.
- Verify your company data includes a valid company name. From the QuickBooks Company menu, select Company Information. QuickBooks displays the Company Information window
- Verify your company name is in the Legal Name field. Sage will convert the Legal Name field as the name of your new Sage company
- If the Legal Name field is blank, Sage will use the name in the Company Name field. If both fields are blank, Sage will assign your company's name as No Name. After the conversion is complete, you can change your company name in Sage at any time
- When finished, select OK
- Make sure your QuickBooks company has at least one of each of the following account types:
- Retained Earnings
- Accounts Payable
- Account Receivable
- Verify the Use Account Numbers preference is activated in QuickBooks.
- Verify "Don't Allow any application to access this company" isn’t selected by clicking Edit, Preferences, Integrated Applications.
- Make sure all the following tasks are completed:
- Authorize all credit card transactions
- Print all checks and forms
- Process and sync all electronic bills
- Process all shipments
- Reconcile all bank accounts for periods before
- Back up your QuickBooks company data. For information on backing up your data within QuickBooks, refer to the program's online Help or printed manuals.
- If you want to convert Social Security Numbers: On the screen in the conversion wizard that requires you to have your QuickBooks company open, you’ll see an Application with No Certificate window. On this window, there’s an option that you select to ensure social security numbers will convert.
2. Convert from QuickBooks - From inside Sage 50, select File > Convert a Company.
- In the Convert a Company window, select QuickBooks.
- Click OK.
- In the Welcome to the QuickBooks-to-Sage 50 Conversion window, read the overview and click Next.
- In the Which QuickBooks company are you converting? window, select the company you want to convert.
- In the What would you like to convert? Window, choose which parts if your QuickBooks company you want to convert. You can choose transactions based on date, range, and select which lists you want to convert.
- Open your QuickBooks company before proceeding. Sage needs to access the company so it can be converted. Log in to your QuickBooks company as an Admin user to allow Sage to access it.
- Review Account Numbers. Sage requires that the accounts in your chart of accounts have numbers. These numbers will be converted as Account IDs in Sage.
- In the Converted QuickBooks Company - Accounting Method window, select the accounting method you want to use.
- Since you can’t change the accounting method once it’s chosen, be sure your choice is correct. Check with your accountant to be sure you select the correct method.
- Specify the first period of your fiscal year, the first period you’ll be entering data, and the first period you’ll be entering payroll transactions.
- The Convert QuickBooks Company - Ready to convert window appears. It shows you a summary of how the company will be converted based on your previous selections.
