Sage 100 Fails to Start After Migrating into the Same Installation
Description
After the migration, only a few System data files remain in the..\MAS90\MAS_System folder:
  • SY_ActivityLog.m4t
  • SY_System.m4t
  • SY_TaskSchedulerDetail.m4t
  • SY_TaskSchedulerHeader.m4t
  • SY_Workstation.m4t
Sage 100 then generates startup errors, including "Cannot open activation key file."
Cause
The migration ran from the old source installation instead of the new destination installation.
The Parallel Migration Wizard (migrate.exe) must run from the new Sage 100 installation. Running it from the source installation removes most system files from the..\MAS90\MAS_System directory.
Resolution

Issue resolved in Sage 100 2020 - prevent selection of same source and target locations for migration.

Restore the Sage 100 installation

  1. Restore the entire MAS90 directory from a backup.
  2. Verify that the restored directory contains the required system files.

Run the Parallel Migration Wizard correctly

  1. Open the new Sage 100 installation folder.
  2. Browse to..\MAS90\Migration.
  3. Right-click Migrate.exe.
  4. Select Run as Administrator.
  5. Complete the migration in the new destination installation.
