No, as of the 2023 release of Sage 50 US Edition Windows 7 will no longer be a compatible operating system for installation. Beginning with release 2024 of Sage 50 US Edition both Windows 8.1 & Windows Server 2012 R2 will prompt installation warning messages that the operating systems are obsolete and some functionality may not work as intended. Future editions of Sage 50 US may no longer be compatible with the Windows 8.1 & Windows Server 2012 R2 operating systems.
Microsoft discontinued support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020, which means no further security updates will be made to the operating system, leaving computers that are connected to the Internet vulnerable to virus and malware infections. If you continue operating a computer with Windows 7 installed, Microsoft offers a paid option to obtain Extended Security Updates (ESUs) for Windows 7 up to three years after the end-of-life date. It is strongly recommended to choose this option if you do not intend to update to a supported version of Windows 10 at this time.
Sage will continue to allow Sage 50 Accounting—US Edition to be installed on computers with Windows 7 for the foreseeable future, but some features may not work as designed in future updates. Beginning in March 2020, subsequent versions of Sage 50 Accounting—US Edition will include a warning message when you attempt to install the product on a computer that is running an edition of Windows 7. To reiterate, we will not block installation of the product near-term.
