To create a new estimate from scratch:

  1. Click File > New Estimate to open the New Estimate window.
  2. Specify the following estimate information:
    • A name for the new estimate.
    • The standard database you want to associate with the new estimate, if desired. Sage Estimating opens the selected standard database automatically whenever you open the estimate.
    • The branch in the My Estimates pane of the Estimating Management Console where you want the estimate displayed.

To create a new branch, click [Browse], right-click the parent branch where you want to locate the new branch, click New > Branch, type the name for the new branch, and then click [OK].

  1. Click [OK]. The Sage Estimating software creates the new estimate and opens the Estimate Information window.
  2. Complete the fields on the tabs of the Estimate Information window. At a minimum, you need to complete the Project name field. The Job size field is required if you want Sage Estimating to calculate the cost per unit for the job in the Totals window.

For help on a field on this tab, click on the tab and then click the field.

  1. When you finish entering information about the estimate, click [OK].
