| | Fix Sage Intelligence Task Pane not launching error in Excel |
| Cause | Excel is using the incorrect add-in. The BI add-ins were designed for 32-bit and 64-bit Excel. If the 64-bit Excel is using the 32-bit add-in or vice versa, Excel won’t launch the task pane. |
| Resolution | Remove incorrect Sage BI add-ins - Close Excel.
- Open C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files.
- Rename the BIExcelFunctions1.1 folder.
- Open Excel, and click OK on all missing add-in prompts until a blank workbook opens.
Confirm Excel version - Go to File, Account, About Excel.
- Confirm whether Excel uses the 32-bit or 64-bit version.
Disable incorrect add-in - Go to File, Options, Add-Ins.
- Click Go near Manage Excel Add-Ins.
- Clear Sage.BI.ExcelFunctions1.1.
- Click Yes on the prompt, then click OK.
- Close Excel.
Restore and add correct add-in - Open C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files.
- Rename the BIExcelFunctions1.1 folder back to its original name.
- Open Excel.
- Go to File, Options, Add-Ins.
- Click Go near Manage Excel Add-Ins.
- Click Browse.
- Open C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\BIExcelFunctions1.1.
- Open the correct folder for your Excel version, either 32-bit or 64-bit.
- Select Sage.BI.ExcelFunctions1.1.xll.
- Ensure the Report Designer is selected, then click OK.
Verify required add-ins - Go to File, Options, Add-Ins.
- Confirm these appear under Active Application Add-Ins:
- BI Generator
- Report Designer Add-In 1.2.0
- Report Designer Add-In 1.2.0 Custom Task Pane Helper
Run the report Run the report again to confirm the task pane launches correctly. Tip: Ensure you select the correct 32-bit or 64-bit folder, or the error returns. |
