Setting job cost interface specifications for a new database specifications for a new database

If you plan to transfer RSMeans data to a new database by using the Means Integrator, and you want to set job cost interface settings such as phase code suffix and company, you must first create the database in Sage Estimating. This is because you cannot specify the job cost interface settings in the Means Integrator.

After creating the new database and specifying the job cost interface settings, transfer your RSMeans data to the database using the Existing Database option in the Means Integrator.

To set job cost interface specifications:

1. Create the database by starting the Sage Estimating software.
2. In Sage Estimating, select Database tab > Database group > New (in classic view, select Database menu > New Database).
3. In the New Database window, set the database name, branch, company, and other specifications in accordance with the instructions in the Sage Estimating Help.

Important! Click the Phase tab, and then set the phase code suffix to Two. Other phase code suffixes are incompatible with RSMeans data.

4. Click [OK] to create the new database.
5. Enable the job cost interface on the new database as follows:
   1. Open the Estimating Management Console and select the database you just created by clicking [Standard db] at the top of the Estimating Management Console.
   2. Scroll to the Job Cost Info section, select Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate as the job cost software, and then click [Setup] to open the Job Cost Integrator window.
   3. In the Job Cost Integrator window, select default company and category information, and then click [OK] to close the window.
   4. Close the Estimating Management Console.
6. Start the Means Integrator, and then select the Transfer option.
7. Select the Existing Databasee option, and then select the database you just set up by clicking [Browse].
8. On the Select Options: New Database Transfer Options page, ensure you select the Apply RSMeans phase codes to the Job Cost phase of Estimating item records check box.
