How to use Remote Print

Resolution

Keep in mind:

  • You can only print to printers that are on the same network domain as the accounting server and accounting workstation making the remote print request.
  • All Sage users must have permissions set to use the specified printer.
  • Workstations must be connected to the server using a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path. For example, the UNC path to the shared data folder on your server is \\[ServerName]\Timberline Office\Data.
  • Your firewall must allow the use of port 8523 (or the port set by your administrator).

Setting up Remote Printing as the default for each user and computer

  1. If you will use a printer other than your current default printer, change the setting in File > Print Setup. Note: Changing the default printer for Sage 300CRE does not affect the default printer for Microsoft Windows applications.
  2. For each user on each workstation, select Tools > Customize.
  3. In the Customize window, click the Remote Print tab.
  4. Select the Remote Print check box. The accounting server name displays for Report Server and 8523 (or the number of the port your administrator assigned) displays for Port.
  5. Click Validate button to ensure the remote server and port are set up correctly for remote printing.
  6. Click OK to save your changes and close the Customize window.
  7. Select Tools > Options.
  8. In the Options Window, click the Reports tab and then click the Remote Printers button.
  9. In the “Remote Print Available Printers” window, select or add one or more printers, and then click Close.
  10. Click OK to save your changes and close the Options window.

Changing the Remote Print setting for an individual print job

  1. Open the report or other item you want to print.
  2. In the Print Selection window, click Printer Setup.
  3. In the Printer Setup window, select or clear the Use remote print check box.
