If you have not already done so, open the Formula window and then display the formula you want to test.

  1. Open the Formula window in one of the following ways:
  • On the ribbon, from the Calculations group on the Data tab, click Formulas.
  • In classic view, click Database menu > Formulas > Formulas.
  1. Click The List (ellipsis) button, and then select the formula you want to use.

To test a formula:

  1. Click [Test].
  2. Enter values for each of the variables listed in the Test Formula window. Use values that will produce a result you can verify rather than random values.

Click [Total] or press Enter from the last variable to display the result.

  1. Check the result displayed in the Total text box.

You can use the Sage Estimating (SQL) calculator to check the formula result. For more information, see Using the calculator to check a formula.

  1. When you finish testing the formula, click [Close] to return to the Formula window.
  2. Did your formula calculate properly?
  • Yes. Congratulations, you're done!
  • No. Change the formula as needed, and then test it again.
