To enter a default answer for the question, you can: - Enter a default answer in the response field.
- Use a question or a question formula to calculate the default value during takeoff. For more information, see:
Entering default values using ad hoc formula -
Place your cursor in the field where you want to enter a default. -
Enter = in the field and type the formula you want to use to calculate the default. Right-click to view the commands available for functions, operators, questions and other question formulas into your formula. -
(optional) To save the formula, right-click and choose Save as Q Formula. -
When the Question Formula window opens, you can name the formula and then save it for later use in the model. -
When you are finished, press Enter. Entering default values using questions formula - Place your cursor in the field where you want to enter a default.
- Right-click and choose List Q-formulas.
You can also enter a calculation in the field and save it as a question formula. For more information, see Setting up a new question formula. - From the Question Formula List, select the question formula you want to use and click [OK]. The name of the selected question formula appears in pink in the field.
- Estimating requires that the question formula calculate a value that is compatible with the line type. For example, if you are entering a formula to calculate the default value for a numeric question, Estimating checks to see if the question formula you choose returns a numeric response and warns you if it does not.
- When you are finished, press Enter.
Entering default values using questions - Place your cursor in the field where you want to enter a default.
- Right-click and choose List Questions.
- From the Question List, select the question you want to use and click [OK]. The name of the selected question appears in green in the field.
- When you are finished, press Enter.
