How to sign up for a free Twilio email account for use with emailing from Sage 100 Contractor version 24.1 and later

Important: The steps below apply only to Sage 100 Contractor versions 24.1 or later.


  1. Open a current version of an internet browser and go to https://sendgrid.com/pricing/
  2. From the Email API Plans window, under Free $0/mo, click Start for free. You may also choose one of the paid plans depending on how many emails you think you will sending a month.
  3. In the Email Address field, enter a valid email address.
  4. In the Password field, enter a password at least 16 characters or longer.
  5. Select the box labeled I'm not a robot.
  6. Accept the Terms of Service.
  7. Click Create Account.
  8. Complete the form entitled Tell Us About Yourself.
  9. Click Get Started.
  10. On the next screen, click Create a Single Sender
  11. Fill out the "Create a Sender" form then click Create
  12. You will then get an email from Sendgrid Support with the subject "Welcome to SendGrid! Confirm your email". In the body of the email, click the Confirm Email Address button
  13. You will then be taken to a confirmation window telling you your email address is now verified. Click the button to go back to your account and continue the setup.
  14. When the "Welcome, (your name)" window appears, go to to menu on the left side, click Email API, then choose Integration Guide
    • Note: If clicking "Integration Guide" takes you back to the Setup Guide instead of the Integration Guide screen, your browser may blocking the screen. Open a different browser (like Microsoft Edge) other than the one you are using and copy/paste this URL into the web address line (not the Search box): https://app.sendgrid.com/guide/integrate
  15. When requested to Choose a setup method, click the Choose button for SMTP Relay.
  16. When asked to Create an API key, enter [your initials]SAGE100CON and click Create Key. The name of the key can be anything you like, but we advise that it contain "Sage100Con" so you can identify it as being used with Sage 100 Contractor.
  17. Copy the entire Password/API Key to a Notepad text file. Keep this information in a safe and secure location.
  18. You will receive a verification from Twilio SendGrid by email (it will be sent to the email address you specified in step 3). Be sure to check your Junk Mail folder, if unable to locate Twilio's verification email.
  19. Locate, open, and click the verification button on the verification email message.
  20. Open Sage 100 Contractor with Administrator rights.
  21. Open menu 7-1 Company Information.
    1. Select the Email and Fax Configuration tab
    2. From the bottom section of the window, for Twilio Email Configuration, enter the following:
    3. Enter your Twilio Sender Identity. This will be the email address you used to set up your Twilio account (from Step 3)
    4. Copy and paste your Twilio SendGrid API Key from the Notepad file from step 12 above\.
    5. Enter a Default Sender Name - this will be the name that recipients see when you send emails. You can choose a different name when configuring Twilio in the email settings for direct deposit stubs, reports, etc
    6. Enter the Default Reply to Email address - this is the email address that recipient replies are sent to. You can choose a different reply-to email when configuring Twilio in the email settings for direct deposit stubs, reports, etc
    7. Click Save on the 7-1 Company Information window.
  22. The option to Send email using the company's Twilio account will now be available on your Report Printing Email Settings windows in Sage 100 Contractor.
  23. Send an email from Sage 100 Contractor using the Twilio email account you set up. If it runs without error go to app.sendgrid.com/guide/integrate/langs/smtp/verify and click the Verify Integration button

Note: You can create a new API Key at any time if you lose or experience any issues with your current API key.
