When company data files are copied

• The files must be copied into an existing company folder (ie: ...\BWData\SAMPLE)
• The Sage BusinessWorks index does not recognize a folder created outside of Sage BusinessWorks as a valid company
  • If you are copying files from a copy of the data files for a company that does not already exist in Sage BusinessWorks
    1. Create a new company under Utilities, Maintain Companies, New with an ID that matches the name of the company you are restoring
    2. Once the company has been created go to the ...\BWData\{Company} folder and delete all the files in the new company folder
    3. Copy the contents of the folder you are restoring to the ...\BWData\{Company} folder

If this is a new install on a server or standalone computer

• If the only backup you have is a copy of the Sage folder (which includes BWProg and BWData) or just the BWData folder you will need to place the recovered files in the desired location prior to installing
• Once the files are copied to the desired location
  • Install Sage BusinessWorks directly on top of the recovered files
  • If the BWProg folder is not available to restore, your custom forms will need to be recreated
