How do I ping the server by name from a workstation or vice versa?

At the server, press WINDOWS KEY + R to bring up the Run command.
Type cmd, and then click OK.
Type ipconfig, and press ENTER.
Note the IPv4 Address.
Type Hostname, and press ENTER.
Note the computer name.
Go to the workstation.
Repeat Steps 1-6.
Type ping [server computer name], and press ENTER.
Verify that the workstation receives a response and that it is coming from the server's noted IP address.
Go back to the server and repeat Steps 9 and 10, using the workstation's computer name.

Note:
- If the ping reply returns an address of 127.0.53.53, see Ping returns 127.0.53.53
- If either of the computers does not receive a response, says it can't find the hostname, or returns a response from a different IP address, contact your network administrator to correct the network issue
