| How do I ping the server by name from a workstation or vice versa? |
Resolution | - At the server, press WINDOWS KEY + R to bring up the Run command.
- Type cmd, and then click OK.
- Type ipconfig, and press ENTER.
- Note the IPv4 Address.
- Type Hostname, and press ENTER.
- Note the computer name.
- Go to the workstation.
- Repeat Steps 1-6.
- Type ping [server computer name], and press ENTER.
- Verify that the workstation receives a response and that it is coming from the server's noted IP address.
- Go back to the server and repeat Steps 9 and 10, using the workstation's computer name.
Note:- If the ping reply returns an address of 127.0.53.53, see Ping returns 127.0.53.53
- If either of the computers does not receive a response, says it can't find the hostname, or returns a response from a different IP address, contact your network administrator to correct the network issue
