▼ What billing arrangements do
  • Billing arrangements define rules that calculate new time and expense charges on a client’s bill
  • Sage Timeslips supports multiple arrangements using slips, adjustments, and flat fees

  • These arrangements usually apply to groups of slips for a client

▼ Setting up billing arrangements

Set up billing arrangements for each client in the Arrangement tab of the Client Information dialog box.

  • Click Names, then select Client Info from the main menu
  • Double-click the client in the Client Info List window
  • Click the Arrangements tab on the left side
  • Select whether the arrangement affects fees, costs, or the full bill
  • Choose the billing arrangement from the dropdown list
  • Click Edit to configure the selected billing arrangement
  • Note: The Edit window options depend on the selected billing arrangement

Timeslips provides over 15 billing arrangement types that you can configure to match most billing agreements

Slips

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips takes charges from slips
  • Charges include slip-based markups, slip-based adjustments, client-based markups, and task- and expense-based markups

Adjust total charges

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips takes charges from slips
  • You then adjust the total charges for the bill

Adjust by timekeeper

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips takes charges from slips
  • You then adjust charges for each timekeeper

Adjust by task

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips takes charges from slips
  • You then adjust the charges for each task

Adjust by expense

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips takes charges from slips
  • You then adjust charges for each expense

Absolute flat fee

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips charges the flat fee amount
  • Slip charges don’t affect the billed amount

Minimum flat fee

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips compares slip charges to the flat fee
  • Timeslips bills the flat fee when it exceeds slip charges
  • Timeslips bills slip charges when they exceed the flat fee

Maximum flat fee

  • When you use this arrangement, you define the maximum billable amount
  • Timeslips bills slip charges until they reach the flat fee
  • When charges reach the limit, Timeslips bills the flat fee instead

Flat fee plus charges

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips adds a flat fee to slip charges
  • This option works well for recurring amounts each billing cycle
  • The bill doesn’t itemize the flat fee separately from slip charges
  • If you need annotations, use a recurring slip instead
  • Note: This option is the same as a base flat fee

Contingency flat fee

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips displays slips on each bill
  • Timeslips doesn’t charge the client until you change the fee status to Final Bill
  • Before printing the final bill, you enter the billing amount
  • You can base the amount on a percentage of the judgment

Minimum hours flat fee

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips calculates fees using hours worked
  • Timeslips applies a flat fee for a specified number of hours
  • Timeslips assigns an hourly rate to hours beyond the threshold
  • When hours don’t reach the threshold, you bill a full or prorated flat fee
  • Note: This arrangement only covers time charges

Percent complete flat fee

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips divides the fee into phases

  • Each phase represents a percentage of the total fee

  • Timeslips bills clients based on phase completion percentages

  • Expenses bill separately using slip amounts

  • Note: This arrangement only covers time charges

  • You can use the Configure Layout Sections dialog box to display the percent complete table on the bill

Progress billing, total

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips bases charge on WIP slips
  • Charges span multiple bills until you issue the final bill

Progress billing, by activity

  • When you use this arrangement, Timeslips bases charges on specific tasks
  • Charges span multiple bills until you issue the final bill

Interim billing: total

  • When you use this arrangement, charges use actual values or values you select
  • Timeslips tracks slips across multiple billings

Interim billing: by activity

  • When you use this arrangement, charges use tasks from selected slips
  • Charges reflect the actual values or values you select
