| | How to add, edit, or remove entries on a SmartList |
| Resolution | - Go to: Customize, Customize Fields.
- Select the field you're changing. Check the box for Activate SmartList? If unchecked, Click the SmartList Manager button.
- Add, Edit, or Delete the value or description as desired, Click OK to save changes.
- To Add a value to the SmartList:
- Enter the desired value in the Name and Description (optional) box, Click Add.
- To populate the SmartList with values from existing assets: Click the Fill button, Click Yes.
- To Edit an existing entry: Highlight the SmartList entry, change the Name or Description box, click Replace.
Note: If you change the Name value, the program will prompt you with a Replace Field List Entry. Select one of the following: - Keep the original entry
- Blank the original entry
- Globally replace the original entry with the new entry
Click Ok to perform the selected function - To Delete an existing entry: Highlight the desired entry, Click Delete.
- List Attributes, Check the boxes for how you wish the SmartList to behave:
- Display description - Displays any description added on entering the SmartList value
- Auto dropdown - Displays the SmartList dropdown on entering the field
- Quick lookup - When you enable auto drop list, typing in the field selects the first matching SmartList entry. This is case-sensitive. As you continue to type, the application continues to find the first matching SmartList entry
- Entry Options: Select either:
- Restrict Entry to the list: Restricts fields to only values in the existing SmartList
- Auto add an entry to the list: This allows you to enter other values not on the SmartList into the selected field. Select from the following:
- No auto add: You can enter in new values, but they won’t appear in the SmartList later
- Confirm auto add: This prompts you to either add a new value to the SmartList or not
- Auto add always: Automatically adds any new value you enter into the selected field to the SmartList
