What is the Beginning Date?
Description

Cause
Resolution
Beginning Information (Beginning Date, Beginning YTD, and Beginning Accum) is used to force depreciation onto an asset. Use Beginning information on asset(s) entered into Sage Fixed Assets with depreciation from another depreciation system. Beginning information will tell Sage Fixed assets previous calculation amounts from the old system.

  • Beginning Date: The last date calculated in the old system.
  • Beginning YTD: The amount calculated for the current year in the old system.
  • Beginning Accum: The total amount of depreciation taken in the old system.

After entering these figures in the Beginning Information fields, the current fields populate with the same figures entered in the beginning fields.

The system will also populate a Beginning Date if you change an asset and select the Current Thru Date during the change. When using Current Thru Date, the system will take the Current Through Date, Current YTD, and Current Accum amounts and use them to populate the Beginning Date, Beginning YTD, and Beginning Accum fields. This locks in depreciation amounts calculated using asset information prior to the change.
Note: To see correct totals on reports, run depreciation on these assets first.

See the Adjustments Section of the Sage Fixed Assets User's Guide (Help, User's Guide) for more information.
