How to create ODBC DSN drivers
Description
Cause
Resolution

NOTE: Sage BusinessWorks doesn’t automatically create ODBC DSNs during installation or when creating companies. To create or connect to an ODBC DSN, you must have Sage BusinessWorks installed.

Creating a 32-bit ODBC DSN:

  1. In Windows Search, type CreateDSN and select the CreateDSN utility. The Sage BusinessWorks - Create DSN Utility window will appear.
  2. Select the desired company (Database ID) from the list, and click Create DSN.  The system will show "DSN Ready" on the server and "Server and Client Ready" on the client workstation.

If the DSN already exists but you encounter an ODBC failure

  1. Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and double-click file odbcad32.exe.
  2. In the System DSN tab, remove all entries ending with _ODBC.
  3. Following the instructions above ro recreate the DSNs.

Logging in: When connecting to the database, the login and password dialog will display. The login is "MANAGER," and the password is the one associated with your Sage BusinessWorks MANAGER account. The password is case-sensitive and must be in all capital letters.

If using Crystal Reports 2020

  • Crystal Reports 2020 connects only via a 64-bit ODBC driver
  • You must have Sage BusinessWorks 2023 or higher installed to use the 64-bit ODBC driver
  • If you’re attempting to connect with Crystal Reports 2020, see instructions on creating a 64-bit DSN.pdf
  • If Pervasive doesn't appear when creating the ODBC DSN, verify your Sage BusinessWorks version (Help, About). Pervasive won't appear if you're using Sage BusinessWorks 2021 or earlier
