What Control Accounts can I use in Billing?

For more information about control accounts, refer to the various control account Help topics in General Ledger.
Cause

You can specify Control Account types in General Ledger as follows:

  1. Select  File, Company Settings, GL Settings.
  2. Click Processing Options, mark the Use Control Account types check box, click OK.
  3. Select  Setup, Accounts.
  4. Choose an account, mark the Control Account check box.
  5. In the Control Account Settings Area, specify the Control Account type and the warning message setting.
Resolution

If you specified Control Account types for your General Ledger accounts, then you are limited in the accounts you can use in Billing :

Standard Item Setup Control Accounts (Setup, Standard Item):

  • GL Account: Use a Revenue Control Acct, Other Control Acct, or a non-control account.

Standard Add-on Setup Control Accounts (Setup, Standard Add-ons):

  • GL Account: Use a Revenue Control Acct, Other Control Acct, or a non-control account.

Item Accounting Information window Control Accounts (Tasks, Enter Quick Bill, Detail Button [ ...>]):

  • Revenue account: Use a Revenue Control Acct, Other Control Acct, or a non-control account.
