 | Cause |  You can specify Control Account types in General Ledger as follows: 
- Select  File, Company Settings, GL Settings. 
 - Click Processing Options, mark the Use Control Account types check box, click OK. 
 - Select  Setup, Accounts. 
 - Choose an account, mark the Control Account check box. 
 - In the Control Account Settings Area, specify the Control Account type and the warning message setting.

 | Resolution |  If you specified Control Account types for your General Ledger accounts, then you are limited in the accounts you can use in Billing : 
Standard Item Setup Control Accounts (Setup, Standard Item): 
- GL Account: Use a Revenue Control Acct, Other Control Acct, or a non-control account. 
  
Standard Add-on Setup Control Accounts (Setup, Standard Add-ons): 
- GL Account: Use a Revenue Control Acct, Other Control Acct, or a non-control account. 
  
Item Accounting Information window Control Accounts (Tasks, Enter Quick Bill, Detail Button [ ...>]): 
- Revenue account: Use a Revenue Control Acct, Other Control Acct, or a non-control account.
