How to manually stop and restart the database engine

Resolution

Pervasive Client Server Engine:  (For Sage BusinessWorks Version 2021 or earlier)

  1. From the Windows desktop, click Start. Point to Settings, and click Control Panel
  2. Double-click Administrative Tools. Double-click Services
  3. In the right pane, click Pervasive PSQL (relational) 
  4. On the Action menu, click Stop
  5. On the Action menu, click Restart
  6. Click Pervasive PSQL (transactional)
  7. On the Action menu, click Stop
  8. On the Action menu, click Restart

Actian Zen Enterprise Server:  (For Sage BusinessWorks Version 2023 and later) 

  1. From the Windows desktop, click Start. Point to Settings, and click Control Panel
  2. Double-click Administrative Tools. Double-click Services
  3. In the right pane, click Actian Zen Enterprise Server 
  4. On the Action menu, click Stop
  5. On the Action menu, click Restart

Pervasive Workgroup or Actian Zen Workgroup: 

  1. From the Windows desktop, click Start. Point to Settings, and click Control Panel. Double-click Administrative Tools. Double-click Services
  2. In the right pane:
    • For Sage BusinessWorks Version 2021 and earlier, click Pervasive PSQL Workgroup Engine 
    • For Sage BusinessWorks Version 2023 and later, click Actian Zen Workgroup Engine
  3. On the Action menu, click Stop
  4. On the Action menu, click Restart

Pervasive Client engine or Actian Zen Client engine

  1. From the Windows desktop, click Start. Point to Settings, and click Control Panel. Double-click Administrative Tools. Double-click Services
  2. In the right pane:
    • For Sage Businessworks Version 2021 and earlier, click Pervasive PSQL Client Engine
    • For Sage BusinessWorks Version 2023 and later, click Actian Zen Client Engine
  3. On the Action menu, click Stop
  4. On the Action menu, click Restart
