When I create a new data folder, what does the option Use current setup do?

Resolution

To use the general setup of the current data folder in your new data folder, select Use current setup when you create a new data folder. If you want to set up the controls for the new data folder yourself, do not select Use current setup.

The settings copied are as follows:

  • Accounting Method and Assign Batch Name settings (File, Company Settings, General).
  • Batch Control Totals settings (File, Company Settings, General, Batch Control Totals).
  • File Locations settings (File, Company Settings, File Locations).
  • Custom Descriptions settings (File, Company Settings, Custom Descriptions).
Note: Custom Description changes include section formats for Accounts Receivable invoices, Contracts contracts and items, General Ledger accounts, Job Cost jobs, cost codes and categories.
  • Post and interface settings, if applicable.

NOTE: Custom Descriptions are stored at data folder level in the TS.CTL, for example, if you make a change to JC Cost Code and call it JC Phase, then in the PvData folder of the TS_CTL for the corresponding record, the preferences are stored and saved.
