| How to show file extensions and hidden files, folders, and drives |
Resolution | Section I: Windows 7/Vista
- Click the Start button, Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, and then Folder Options.
- Click the View tab.
- Under Advanced settings, uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
- Click Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then click OK.
Section II: Windows 8
- Click Control Panel, Folder Options, Show hidden files and folders.
- Then click the View tab at the top of the window.
- Under Advanced settings, uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
- Locate "Hidden files and folders." Select Show hidden files and folders just below that.
Section III: Windows 10
- Click Control Panel, File Explorer Options, Show hidden files and folders.
- Then click the View tab at the top of the window.
- Under Advanced settings, uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
- Locate "Hidden files and folders." Select Show hidden files and folders just below that.
