Using the Database Dump Utility (Backup)

  1. Open the Database Dump from the Sage 300 Admin Utilities.
  2. Login using the Sage 300 admin user password.
  3. Highlight the database that you want to dump.
  4. Use the Set Directory button to enter the location where you want to save the files.
  5. Click the Dump button to proceed. A confirmation message will appear.
  6. After the dump, a Dataset Description screen appears. Here you enter a description of the backup.
  7. A summary message displays.
  8. Click Close to end the session.

NOTE:

Database Dump creates a control file named after the Database ID. It adds the DCT extension and saves it in the folder you choose. The extracted data sits in a subfolder with the same Database ID. Keep the control file and its data subfolder together when moving or backing them up.

Using the Database Load Utility (Restore)

Database Load takes the Dataset (extracted data) and loads it into a Sage 300 database. The database entry must exist and in Database Setup.

  1. Open Database Load from the Sage 300 Admin Utilities.
  2. Login using the Sage 300 admin user password.
  3. Use the Set Directory button to select the location of the backup that you want to restore.
  4. Highlight the backup dataset to restore.
  5. Use the Details button if you want further information about the highlighted dataset.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Highlight the database that you want to load the data into and click Next.
  8. Make sure you select the correct database. The Load will delete all existing tables in the database you select and replace all existing data.
  9. Click Finish to load the data. If the target database contains data, a warning message will appear.
  10. Click Cancel to end the session.
