Note: This resolution requires you to install a payroll tax update. Update taxes in each company data folder that does not share a tax file. After you complete this installation, tax changes are effective the next time you process payroll, regardless of the effective date on the tax table or the dates on the check. Tax updates do not affect previously issued checks.

When you do not select the Update tax files when download is complete check box, the following actions occur:

1. The most recent tax file downloads from the server.
   Note: If the file does not download, there may be a problem with the Internet connection or firewall. Contact your Network Administrator for assistance.
2. The New.prx and PR_FRM.tax files are copied to X:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sage\Timberline Office\9.5\Accounting\Misc (where X:\ represents the drive on which you installed the Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate program files).
3. A message will appear when starting the Payroll application as follows: "Update Taxes has not been run for the Payroll tax files you recently downloaded. When you are ready for the new taxes to take effect, select Tools, Update Taxes to replace the old taxes with any new ones. You will receive this message each time you start Payroll until update Taxes is run. See Updating Payroll tax rates in Payroll Help for additonal information."

To apply the tax update after downloading, from the Payroll Tools menu, select Update Taxes.
