Common Questions

Q: Why is Sage releasing only one year-end version?
A: By releasing only one year end version, we are able to concentrate our efforts on one software version to ensure a high quality release.

Q: Can I upgrade to the latest version and still process payroll for 2024?
A: Yes, you can upgrade but still process payroll for 2024. Remember to apply the 2025 tax updates after your last payroll in 2024 and you've closed the year in Payroll, and before processing your first payroll of 2025.

Q: Because of timing, I am unable to upgrade to the 2024 year-end supported version before my first payroll in 2025. Will the 2025 tax tables work for version 20.1 - 24.2?
A: Yes, the 2025 Tax Tables will function properly, but it's recommended that you upgrade to the 2024 year-end version before running Aatrix reports. Refer to How do I download and update taxes in the Payroll application? for more information on updating taxes.

Q: Why can’t Sage release the year-end version earlier in the year?
A: The year-end version is a government compliance release. To account for last minute changes to the legislature or government requirements that occur late in the year, a December release time frame assures that Sage has incorporated all the known government-mandated changes for reporting and processing into the software.

Preparing to install


Q: What is the year-end version?
A: The year-end version includes government-mandated changes. Also, see How do I download and update taxes in the Payroll application? to update your taxes before printing checks for the new year. The year-end version is provided as a download.

  • You are not required to install this version before processing your last payroll of the year.
  • Affordable Care Act Information is manually entered and does not require the year-end version to be installed before your first payroll of the new year.
  • You should install the year-end version before generating your year-end government forms.

Q: When will the year-end version be available? How will I receive it?
A: The Year-End version for the currently supported version (v24) is currently available. The year-end version is provided as a download. When available, the release can be downloaded from a link in the Related Solutions below.

To receive a notification when the release is available, subscribe to our Community Hub forum:

  1. Go to Community Hub at www.communityhub.sage.com
  2. Click the outline of a person in the upper right-hand corner
    • If you are already signed in, your profile picture displays instead of an outline. Skip to step 4.
    • If you are not signed in and you already have a portal account or Community Hub account, enter your user name and password, then click Sign in. Skip to step 4
  3. Select Join here if you do not have an existing portal account or Community Hub account, then fill out the requested information and click Join now
  4. Hover over Support Groups and select your country
  5. Select the product for which you would like to receive notices
  6. Select Forums then Sage 300 CRE Announcements, News, and Alerts
  7. Click More on the right-hand side, then select Turn Forum notifications on

Q: What version do I need to have installed before I download the year-end release? Which versions will be compatible with the year-end software update download?
A: The Year-End release is currently available. If you are currently using a 23.x or earlier version of Sage 300 CRE, start making plans now for upgrading. See Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate: Download Portal, for valuable resources, including installation checklists, to help you plan and complete your upgrade. Your channel partner or consultant can also provide assistance with upgrades.

Q: Does the year-end version include all previous updates and patches?
A: Yes. The year-end release includes all previous updates and patches. You do not need to install previous updates and patches before or after installing the year-end version.

Q: Do I need to install the year-end version if I do not use Payroll and Accounts Payable?
A: It is still recommended. There are some fixes included in the year-end version. Check the release notes that will be included in the 2024 Year-End announcement on Community Hub to determine if you need to install the update if you do not use Payroll or Accounts Payable.

Q: Do I need to install the year-end version before I close the year, print checks, enter invoices, or complete other tasks in Payroll and Accounts Payable?
A: No. See FAQ (US) - Timing of year-end tasks: What should I do when?, for more information.

Q: Are Payroll tax changes included in the year-end version?
A: No. The year-end version includes any changes to year-end forms like W-2s and 1099s and should be installed before you print or file your government forms.

The Payroll Tax Update for the 2025 tax year is expected to be released in December and contains the Payroll tax changes. Check the forums at www.communityhub.sage.com in December for the tax update announcement. Use the Download Taxes tool to download and update your taxes or select the appropriate tax file attachment. A: The Year-End version is currently available.

Q: How do I download and install the year-end version if my workstations are not connected to the Internet?
A: Download the year-end version from another computer that has internet access, and then transfer that file to a portable storage device like a USB flash drive so that you can install the file on your computer. You can access the file download from any computer with internet access (home computer, public library computer, etc).

Considerations after installation

Q: Which data files do I need to upgrade after I install the Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate year-end version?
A: When you upgrade files in Desktop, Applications, Common Tasks, Tools, Upgrade Files, select all data files to upgrade, the utility will upgrade only the files that need to be upgraded. Do not select the Force file upgrades checkbox.

Q: What will my version be if I successfully install the year-end software update?
A: When you install the year-end version successfully, the application versions change. The year-end version for 2024 will be known in December.
