Standalone Setup

Note: This section only applies if there is only one computer that has Sage 300 CRE installed.  This is uncommon.

From Sage Desktop:

  1. Launch Sage Desktop.
  2. Log into Sage if required.
  3. Choose the Specify Folders button on the Select Company window.
  4. Either type in or copy the path to the data folder, or click the Browse button and locate your data folder.
  5. Click to highlight your data folder and then click OK through the prompts until the company folder shows up in the list.

From TS Main:

  1. Launch TS Main as an administrator in the application.  If you do not have security turned on (i.e. it does not prompt a login/password when you launch the software), you are automatically an administrator.
  2. Click the Specify Folders button in the Select Company window.
  3. Either type in or copy the path to the data folder, or click the Browse button and locate your data folder.
  4. Click to highlight your data folder and then click OK through the prompts until the company folder shows up in the list.

Server/Client Setup

Note: This section applies if you have Sage 300 CRE on a server/client enviroment.  This is the typical setup of most users.

The parent folder above your data folder must be shared with proper permissions in order for the subfolders (actual data folders) to show up as available to select or use when in the Open Company list.  Do not share the actual data folder itself.

From Sage Desktop:

  1. Open Sage Desktop.
  2. Log into Sage if required.
  3. Click the Specify Folders button.
  4. Either type in or copy the path to the data folder (using a UNC path) and skip to step 7 or click the Browse button to manually locate the data folder.
    Note: Example UNC path, \\SageServer\Timberline Office\Data\Company 123
  5. Locate "Network" and click to expand it.
  6. Locate the computer, share and data folder from the network.

  2. Click the Specify Folders button.
  3. Either type in or copy the path to the data folder (using a UNC path) and skip to step 7 or click the Browse button to manually locate the data folder.
  4. Locate "Network" and click to expand it.
  5. Locate the computer, share and data folder from the network.
  6. Click to highlight your data folder and then click OK through the next prompts until the company folder shows up in the list.

Note: In version 9.4 and prior, there may be an option to search for data folders.  This option is not recommended due to it taking a long time.  This option is also no longer available in newer versions.  The wording of certain windows or fields may also be different.
