Verify that all users of that system have exited Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate and Sage Estimating applications before restarting the services.

Sage 300 CRE Versions 24.1 and earlier

Workstations:

For versions 15.1 to 24.1:

  1. Right-click on the Windows Start button and select Run.
  2. Type services.msc in the field and click OK.
  3. Locate the Pervasive/Actian service(s) in the list.
  4. Right-click the service(s) and select Stop.
  5. Confirm the service(s) stopped.
  6. Verify the Startup Type on the service is Automatic.
  7. Right-click on the service(s) and choose Start.

For versions 14.1 and earlier:

  1. The Pervasive/Actian database engine should appear as a system tray icon with the tool tip "Pervasive Database - Pre-load" or "Pervasive Database - Auto-load".
  2. Close out of Sage 300 CRE and Sage Estimating on the affected workstation.
  3. Right-click on the Pervasive icon and select Stop Engines and exit.
  4. When Sage 300 CRE or Sage Estimating is next launched, the icon should automatically reappear as the Pervasive engine starts.
  5. If you use Sage Estimating (Pervasive version) on this workstation, follow the steps below in the Servers section. Sage Estimating may install server Pervasive components under certain scenarios. This is working as intended.

Servers (or workstations with Sage Estimating installed presently or in the past):

  1. Important to prevent damage to your data:
    • Sage 300 CRE or Estimating file servers: You must verify all users have exited Sage 300 CRE on all systems prior to restarting the database engine.
    • Citrix or Terminal servers: You must verify that all users have exited the terminal server prior to restarting the database engine.
  2. Right-click on the Windows Start button and select Run.
  3. Type services.msc in the field and click OK.
  4. Scroll down the list and find Pervasive/Actian PSQL Relational Engine, Pervasive/Actian PSQL Transactional Engine, or Pervasive/Actian PSQL (workgroup) Engine.
    • Note: Different versions of Pervasive/Actian may show a slightly different service name.
  5. Right-click on each of the Pervasive/Actian services listed and select Stop.
  6. Right-click on each of the services again and select Start.
    • Note: Due to the nature of the operating system, sometimes selecting the Restart option does not resolve the issue. It is sometimes necessary to select Stop, followed by Start.
    • If unable to Stop the service:
      1. Right-click the service and choose Properties.
      2. Set service to Disabled.
      3. Reboot the server.
      4. Right-click the service and choose Properties.
      5. Set service to Automatic.
      6. Start should be available.
