Set permissions on the Sage BusinessWorks share or parent folder
Description
The following messages display as a result of incorrect permission settings: 
  • No writable share
  • File access denied
  • Unable to create company
  • Unable to achieve an exclusive lock
Cause

  1. At the server, right-click the Windows Start button and choose File Explore.
  2. Locate the shared folder for Sage BusinessWorks.  EXAMPLE: C:\Sage.
  3. Right-click the shared folder and select Properties.
  4. Click the Sharing tab and select the Advanced Sharing... button.
  5. Select Permissions button.
  6. Select the Full Control checkbox for the Sage BusinessWorks users or group. This automatically selects the remaining checkboxes.
  7. Click the Security tab. Ensure that all users using Sage BusinessWorks have full control permissions.  
    • To change the permissions of a user or group, select Edit and then select Full Control Allow.
