Verify the path to the Bestsys.db. Ensure the System account has full control under Sharing\Permissions for the Server installation folder on the server. Warning: You’ll need to recreate Security configurations and re-register the program after swapping the BESTSYS.DB file. See How to set up Password Security? and How to register the Sage Fixed Assets - Depreciation Network version Note: This solution is for the Network version of Sage Fixed Assets. If you have the Premier version, see How to swap the Premier Bestsys. To swap the Bestsys: - Stop the Sybase SQL Engine on the server:
- Start, Programs, Sage Fixed Assets, Tools, Database Utility - Network Depreciation & Tracking, click Service Manager, click Stop
OR - Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services, right-click Sage Fixed Assets Service, select Stop
- Browse to the BESTSERV, FASServ or SFAServ folder.
- Rename the Bestsys.db to "old_Bestsys.db".
- Delete or Rename the Bestsys.log.
- Right-click the Bestsys.sav, select copy. Right-click the same directory, select paste, which will create a "Copy of Bestsys.sav".
- Rename the Copy of Bestsys.sav to Bestsys.db.
- In the Service Manager or in Services, start the Sage Fixed Assets Service.
Add existing databases to the list in the Database List Manager: - Click Find, Browse to the database location.
- Click OK, and click Search.
- Once found, highlight the database, click Add.
Notes: - If the Find screen has a name for the database, the database will disappear from the list of found databases.
- If the Find screen doesn’t have a name for a database, the database wasn’t on the Database list before swapping the Bestsys.db.
- Click Close, then click Close on the Database List Manager.
- Go to File, Open Company, select the newly add database, select a company from the list, click OK.
