A timing trace can be used to help pinpoint a potential processing bottleneck inside a specific Sage X3 function. The timing trace will identify the exact call to which subprogram from which source code. How do I run a timing trace?
- Please see attachment included for instructions on running the Activation Timing Trace. The screenshots show version 6, however for version 7 and higher, you can find the activation timing options on the right hand panel.
- If you do not see the option or a similar option as noted in the attachment, there is a user level parameter; which governs access to this menu option.
-
Login with rights to the Setup – Users – Users task; launch this -
Select the user you want to allow access to the activation timing trace -
Open the Parameter definition tab -
Navigate to the Supervisor chapter - Group: 'DEV' -
Right-Click and open the 'Detail' form. -
Find and set parameter option DBG = Yes -
Log out and open a new session for the user. -
Launch the task to be traced and then launch Activation Timing from the diagnostic menu as needed. - Activation timing will not display in the diagnostic menu unless in an open task window, supported by this utility. For example, Launch Common Data, Products, Products task and then open the diagnostic menu.
