 NOTE: Starting in 2023, you no longer need to print W-2, W-3, 1094/1095 B/C, 1099, and 1096 forms on red official forms. For more details, see Does the IRS/SSA require that I print my tax forms be on red official ink forms?

You can order the required forms from Sage Checks and Forms.

W-2 and W-3 Forms

Employee Copy

  • Print on blank 4-up perforated paper with instructions on the back
  • Sage Checks and Forms Item Number LW2BLANK4 and LW2BK4DWS bundle with envelopes

Federal Copies

  • Print on blank paper in a 2-up format
  • Don’t use the preprinted red ink form
  • You don’t need to purchase any forms
  • The Social Security Administration accepts substitute forms on plain paper

Employer copies

  • Print on plain 4-up perforated paper
  • Sage Checks and Forms Item Number LW2BLNK4NB.

State copies

  • Print on plain paper and print in 4-up format
  • You don’t need to purchase any forms

W-3 Form

  • Prints on plain paper
  • Don’t use the preprinted red ink form
  • You don’t need to purchase any forms
  • The Social Security Administration accepts substitute forms on plain paper

 

1099 and 1096 forms

Before you begin:

  • Sage BusinessWorks 2021 and higher includes 1099-NEC support
  • Sage BusinessWorks 2023 SP6 and higher includes 1099-DIV and 1099-INT
  • Order enough blank 4-part perforated forms, as all recipient copies print on them
  • The blank 1099 form doesn’t include instructions on the back.  You can print the instructions on a separate page while processing the recipient copy

Federal 1099
(Copy A)

  • Print on blank paper in a 2-up format
  • Don’t use the preprinted red ink form
  • You don’t need to purchase any forms
  • The Social Security Administration accepts substitute forms on plain paper

Recipients copy

  • Prints on blank 4-part perforated form
  • Sage Checks and Forms Item Number L99BLANK4 or L99BK4DWS bundle with envelopes

State copy

  • Prints on blank paper
  • Contact your State agency for specific printing requirements
  • Some states don’t require filing of 1099s

Payer copy (Copy C)

  • Prints on blank 4-part perforated form
  • Print on plain paper or Blank 4-part perforated

1096

  • Prints on plain paper
  • Don’t use the preprinted red ink form
  • You don’t need to purchase any forms
  • The Social Security Administration accepts substitute forms on plain paper
