Slow performance when running Sage 100 ERP Standard through a UNC path

Description

Cause

When installing the Sage 100 Standard workstation through a mapped drive on a Windows 7 (or later) workstation with User Account Control (UAC) enabled, the Start In path on the Sage 100 Standard shortcut changes to a UNC path

Resolution

Disable user account control on the workstation

In Windows 7, from the Windows Desktop, open the Control Panel, User Accounts.
Select Change User Account Control Settings.
Move the slider to Never Notify.
Select OK to save changes and exit.

NOTE:

On Windows 8 or Windows 10, lowering the User Account Control setting to "Never Notify" doesn't fully disable User Account Control (consult your IT person if experiencing issues, as this must be disabled via the Windows Registry or a Policy change).

Create a mapped drive if one doesn’t exist

Map a drive to one level above the server’s MAS90 folder.
Use that mapped drive during the workstation installation process.

Reinstall a Sage 100 Standard workstation using a mapped drive

Uninstall the existing Sage 100 workstation setup.
Restart the workstation.
Reinstall the workstation using a mapped drive path.
Use a path similar to:
- M:\MAS90\Wksetup\Autorun.exe.
- Where M:\ is mapped to the shared folder location.

CAUTION:

Use a UNC path for Sage 100 Advanced or Premium Workstation installations.
