How to create SQL or Windows authenticated users and Company Administrators and change passwords

To create an SQL-authenticated user login

  1. Connect to Database Administration for Sage 100 Contractor
  2. Click Company Admins/SQL Logins, then Add SQL Server Login.
  3. From the Authentication picklist, select SQL Server Authentication
  4. In the Login field, type the SQL user name.
  5. In the Password field, type the desired password.
  6. Check the box for Add as a member of the 'sysadmin' server role if you would like this login to be able to connect to Database Administration for Sage 100 Contractor.
  7. Click Create SQL Login
  8. You can then add this new user to the company databases, by clicking Company Admins/SQL Logins, then Add Company Admins.
  9. You can now connect and log in to Sage 100 Contractor by selecting SQL Server Authentication in the Authentication picklist on the Connect to SQL Server window and entering the new user login name and password.

To create a Windows authenticated User login

  1. Connect to Database Administration for Sage 100 Contractor
  2. Click Company Admins/SQL Logins, then Add SQL Server Login.
  3. In the Authentication drop-down, select Windows Authentication
  4. In the Login field, type the Windows authenticated user name [Domain name\username].
  5. Skip the Password field.
  6. Check the box for Add as a member of the 'sysadmin' server role if you would like this login to be able to connect to Database Administration for Sage 100 Contractor.
  7. Click Create SQL Login
  8. You can add this new user to the company databases by clicking Company Admins/SQL Logins, then Add Company Admins
  9. You can now connect to Sage 100 Contractor by selecting Windows Authentication in the Authentication picklist on the Connect to SQL Server window and clicking the Connect button.

 

To Manually add an existing SQL or Windows authenticated user login to the company database

  1. Open the Sage 100 Contractor company with Administrator rights.
  2. Open menu 7-2-2 User List
  3. On a blank row, in the User Name column, enter the Windows authenticated user name (for example,domainname\Username) or SQL authenticated user name.
  4. For SQL-authenticated users, enter the user's password in the Password column.
  5. For Windows authenticated users, you do not need to enter a password in the Password column.
  6. From the Security Group column, assign at least one Security Group to the user.
  7. In the Company Admin column, enter Yes if the user will be a company Administrator.
  8. Click File, Save

 

To edit or change an SQL-authenticated user password

  1. Open the Sage 100 Contractor company with Administrator rights.
  2. Open menu 7-2-2 User List
  3. Click the User Name row of the user.
  4. Click the Password cell and press the delete (del) key on the computer keyboard
  5. Click the Password cell again and enter a new password.
  6. Press enter on the computer keyboard.
  7. Click File, Save
