You can use the Trial Run task to preview what the task will generate or create without updating the data. The "preview" comes in the form of a printed journal.

Create Entries

Uses the local Pervasive Workgroup Engine on the machine where you perform the task.

Uses the Pervasive/Actian Server Engine.

Copies data into temp files to perform the trial run, then removes the temp files when finished.

Notes:

When ran on a workstation, it creates these temp files in the local user's temp directory (C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Temp).

When ran on the server, it creates these temp files in the temp directory on the server (C:\Windows\Temp).

Applies to both tasks: Creates a temp file that stores the last run settings. It uses these settings the next time you select the Prefill button in the task.
