FAQ Document Management retirement
Description
The retirement of Document Management was announced on July 23, 2018 via a marketing e-mail communication and a post to Sage City. A product notice was also sent, on July 24, 2018.

Document Management support and development has ended effective 12/31/2019. See FAQs and answers below.

Resolution
Q: Why are you retiring Document Management (DM)?

A: Sage customers need a modern and robust construction document management solution that meets their evolving needs: a solution that can grow as these needs grow. We have determined that the existing on-premises DM product is no longer the best solution to meet these customer needs.

Q: Will my DM product continue to work after you retire it?

A: Yes, for certain versions. Sage 300 CRE v17.1 and v18.1 will continue to be compatible with DM. For customers who wish to maintain a version of DM in this manner, Sage recommends isolating the machine where DM is installed from further Windows updates. DM will remain compatible on the currently supported versions of Windows operating system and patches.

Q: I would like to have a version of DM running to have for archive and reference purposes. What do I need to know to accomplish this?

Please keep in mind that future Windows updates may prevent DM from loading. We recommend isolating this environment from any further Windows updates.

Note: Customers will need a use of DM to ensure they have an Activation code for the dongle.

Q: What is the last version of Sage 300 CRE that will include Document Management?

A: Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate version 18.2.2 is that last version that includes DM. DM will no longer be included in Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate starting in version 18.3, estimated for Summer 2019.

Q: Is there an alternative solution that you are offering to customers in place of DM?

A: Sage Paperless Construction is the suggested product alternative.

Q: When will I stop being billed for DM Maintenance & Support?

A: If you decide to purchase Sage Paperless Construction, the balance of your remaining Document Management Maintenance and Support plan will be credited towards your next Maintenance and Support plan renewal.
