Error: "Sage 50 update could not be completed and needs to be run again." troubleshooting—Checking the PeachWLog.XML file

Cause
Resolution
  1. Browse to C:\ProgramData\Sage\Peachtree. Note: If the 'Program Data' folder is not present, select View at the top of the File Explorer window and select the box to show Hidden items.
  2. Open PeachWLog.XML file with Notepad.
    Note: If you cannot find Notepad, browse to C:\Windows\System32\Notepad\. Then select File, Open and browse to and select the PeachWLog.XML file.
  3. Select EditFind.
  4. Search for fail.
  5. When the fail line is found, make note of the file or folder that is causing the failure. Also note the directory of the file or folder. For example: if the fail line states C:\Sage\Peachtree\Company\status.dat, the directory is C:\Sage\Peachtree\Company\ and the file causing the problem is status.dat.
  6. Browse to the directory listed in step 5.
  7. Rename the file or folder listed in step 5.
  8. Run repair
  9. Install the update again.
