• You must have the default collation setting of the SQL set to: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.
• If you used a different collation setting when setting up the SQL server, you can’t use it for Sage Fixed Assets databases.
• The initial instance used must have the default collation set as SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.
• The SQL Server must use Mixed Mode Authentication. Select Mixed Mode Authentication when installing Microsoft SQL Server.
  • For more information about using Mixed Mode Authentication (rather than Windows Authentication Mode), refer to your Microsoft SQL Server documentation
• Start and run the Microsoft SQL Server service and before installing the application or Database Utility
• For the Database Utility login prompt into the SQL Server, you must have a SQL User with SQL Administrator (SQL server role of sysadmin) permissions.
• Sage Fixed Assets Password Security (optional) requires Active Directory (AD) for Windows authentication mode.
• Sage currently supports Azure AD in hybrid mode. You muse use application authentication outside of hybrid mode. For more information on password security, see How to set up Password Security

Application Server:

Database Server. Sage Fixed Assets Premier requires a non-clustered stand-alone instance of SQL Server versions:

• Microsoft SQL Enterprise or Standard: Microsoft SQL Server 2014 SP3, Microsoft SQL Server 2016, Microsoft SQL Server 2017, Microsoft SQL Server 2019
• Windows SQL Server 2022 is supported for version 2025.1 only
• Microsoft SQL Server Express 2019

Remote Access:

• Server 2016, Server 2019 or Server 2022 running Windows Terminal Services (Standard or Enterprise)
• Microsoft Windows 10 v21H1, v21H2, v22H2 Microsoft Windows 11 v21H2

Desktop Client:

Once the Premier Server install is complete: Ensure you share the SFAServ folder with Change and Read permissions on the Sage Fixed Asset user accounts on Sharing\Permissions and the Security tabs. Sage Fixed Assets Premier is supported on:

• Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express SP3
• Microsoft SQL Server Express 2016
• Microsoft SQL Express 2017
• Microsoft SQL Express 2019

The recommendation is to have no more than 50,000 assets per company using SQL Server Express

• Performance declines as assets in the companies increase
• SQL Express has a 10 GB hard limit on Database Size per database file

Sage Fixed Assets applications do NOT support clustered SQL Server environments. You need a single stand-alone instance of SQL to house the Sage Fixed Assets databases

• The application doesn't support connecting across a WAN (Wide Area Network), VPN (Virtual Private Network) or Wireless connection to the MS SQL server. While these type of connections will sometimes work, random disconnects and slow performance are common issues. Customer Support can’t troubleshoot connection issues with any of the above environments. 

It's recommended to connect via a Terminal Service to a Client which is Local to the MS SQL server.
