Summary
Sage Advisor collects usage statistics within Sage 300 ERP to help improve product functionality and performance. Administrators can disable the Sage Advisor Uploads or Sage Advisor Update service.
Description
- Sage Advisor is a statistics collection program that tracks how users work in Sage 300 ERP.
It logs each user action and screen interaction to a local file location. - Advisor stores log files in the \Company\AdvisorLogs folder.
The system collects logs from all desktop connections and uploads them to Sage servers for evaluation. - Logging always stays enabled.
Organizations can disable the upload process for security reasons.
Resolution
Disable Sage Advisor log uploads in Sage 300
- Log all users out of Sage 300.
- Open the Sage 300\SharedData\Company folder.
- Locate the AdvisorLogs folder.
- Rename the folder to AdvisorLog-bak.
- Open the Sage 300\Runtime folder.
- Locate Sage.CA.SBS.ERP.Sage300.AdvisorUpload.exe.config.
- Make a copy of the file before editing.
- Right-click the file, and select Edit.
- Locate the section <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true">.
- Change true to false.
- Save the file.
- Log back into the Sage 300.
Sage Advisor logging upload no longer runs after these changes.
Disable the Sage Advisor Update service
- Open Component Services in Microsoft Windows.
- In the console tree, click Services.
- Select Sage Advisor Update.
- Right-click Sage Advisor Update, and click Properties.
- In the General tab, set the Startup type to Disabled.
- Click Stop.
- Click Apply.
- Click OK.
The Sage Advisor Update process is now inactive.
