Lot/Serial number expansion from 15 to 50 characters

Lot/Serial numbers expansion from 15 to 50 characters in version 2026 (7.50.0)

Idea site requests:  

Our serialized inventory has longer serial numbers than the field allows for. 

VIN (serial numbers for vehicles) is 17 characters.  Request to increase to at least 20 characters, preferably 30 characters.

Sage 100 version 2026 (7.50.0) will increase lot/serial numbers from 15 to 50 characters. 

Existing lot/serial numbers don’t automatically convert to the new length.  (See below Conversion Utility note for existing numeric lot/serial numbers.)

Lot/Serial numbers containing characters, or a combination of numeric and characters won’t expand.

Modules Impacted: I/M, S/O, P/O, A/R, RMA, B/M, P/M, C/I, Mobility for Bar Code 
Inventory Management Options - A new Zero Fill Lot/Serial checkbox option will be available, which will insert leading zeros automatically to pad numeric lot/serial numbers.
Screens - Lot/Serial number entry fields have increased in width to accommodate entry of 50 characters. Lot/Serial number columns in list views will display 20 characters.  The screen is able to increase to display the full 50 characters (Note: Some list views will display more than 20 characters)
Lot/Serial Number Conversion Utility - Added to the Sage 100 Utilities menu, which is accessed by typing *UTL in File > Run.  This will convert existing numeric lot/serial numbers to the new length of 50 characters by inserting leading zeros.
