Summary

How to find the data path and program path for Sage 50 Accounting. The data path saves company data, and the program path is the location of the installed program.

Resolution

 

With the INI file

  1. Press WINDOWS KEY+E.
  2. In the File Explorer, locate the directory for the .INI file. Browse to C:\ProgramData\Sage\Peachtree.
  3. Open the configuration file for your version of Sage 50—U.S. Edition. If prompted to select a program, choose Notepad.
    • Version 2024: Peachtree310.ini
    • Version 2023: Peachtree300.ini
    • Version 2022: Peachtree290.ini
  4. To locate the data path, look for the line starting with DATAPATH= and no semi-colon.
  5. To locate the program path, look for the line starting with PROGRAMPATH= and no semi-colon.

From within the Sage program, or its icon properties

  • To find the data path:

  1. Open Sage 50—U.S. Edition.
  2. Select File, Open Company.
    • Don’t select Open Previous Company
  3. Drag the corner of the box so the full directory shows.
  4. The directory, minus the truncated spelling of the company name, is the data path.
  • To find the program path:

  1. Right-click the Sage shortcut icon.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. The blue highlighted path on the Target line, minus Peachw.exe, is the program path.
    • If you choose Open File Location, the program path will open for you
