Additional notes when installing Application Cluster

You’re planning to implement the Application Clustering feature, introduced in Version 12 Patch 25 and want to know the steps to take

1. There are various online help documents which will be useful to you:

• Application: Installing the application server
• X3 Console: Configuration Console

 

2. As Application Clusters use a Windows share for the shared disk location, you also need to be aware of the "rules" for setting up the X3 Runtime user account, as it will need access to this shared disk location.

Run all X3 runtime services with the same Windows Active Directory (AD) account (not a local account). Alternatively, run with AD accounts belonging to the same AD group. The AD account does NOT need to be an administrator of anything (Domain or even local administrators on the App/Runtime hosts) following these rules:

• The AD account MUST have "Log on as a service" privilege on all VMs where used to run a Sage X3 runtime service
• The AD account MUST have "Full control" on the whole of the X3 "..\Folders" hierarchy and also the "runtime\tmp" directory
• The AD account MUST have "Full control" on the network share that is configured for the "..\Folders" directory

 

3. Each Sage X3 Apps/Runtime server MUST use the same Windows disk location for the "..\Folders" directory. That is, if the first Apps/runtime server has the Sage folders directory located in "D:\Sage\X3ERPV12" then all Apps/Runtime servers must use this same location

 

4. Supported with minimum X3 Console version 2.49.2 and higher. The latest version of the Console is always the best.

5. Low latency is important when setting up a Network-mapped drive installation on your shared disk. This prevents long installation times, and for ongoing processing performance. Configure all X3 Application/Runtime servers, database servers and disk storage servers with the shortest possible network path, to get the highest possible throughput AND the lowest possible latency.
