How can I change the number of decimal places for task windows?

Note: By default, dollar amount fields will round to the nearest whole cent on forms. To change the total price fields number of decimal places, you must change the Windows decimal places setting.

Note: Will not work on hourly payroll fields.

Section 1: Change decimal settings in Sage 50

  1. Select Options, Global.
  2. Under Number of Decimal Places, set the number of decimal places using the Quantity fields, Unit Price, or Standard fields drop-down lists.

    Note: Standard fields include:
    • Average Cost
    • Estimate Cost
    • Package Weight
    • Previously Billed Amount
    • Proposal Amount
    • Purchase Weight
    • Purchasing Weight
    • Remaining Amount
    • Sales Backorders
    • Sales Weight
    • Serial Numbers on Hand
    • Tax Rate/Additional Tax Rate
    • Total % Billed
    • Weight
  3. Click OK.
  4. Test the decimal settings on a transaction. If undesired rounding occurs, go to Section 2.

Section 2: Rounding issues - change Windows regional settings to match Sage 50

  1. Close Sage 50.
  2. Select the Windows Start button.
  3. In the Search box type Control Panel and press Enter.
  4. Select Region, or under Clock and Region select Change date, time, or number formats.
  5. Select English (United States) from the Language (Region) drop-down list.
  6. Click Additional Settings.
  7. Select the Numbers tab.
  8. Change No. of digits after decimal to the desired number of digits.
  9. Select the tab Currency and change No. of digits after decimal to the desired number of digits.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Close Control Panel and reopen Sage 50.
  12. Verify that numbers now round as desired.

Section 3: The decimal point does not automatically fill in between dollars and cents

  1. Select Options, Global.
  2. Under Decimal Entry change to Manual.
