Summary

How to set up commissions for salespeople in Sage 50 Accounting.

Resolution

  • The Sales Rep Report can be used to view commissionable and non-commissionable sales for each sales rep
  • This report can be accessed by clicking Reports & Forms, Accounts Receivable
  • Sage 50 only tracks the sales for the sales reps, it doesn’t calculate commission
  • Only inventory items can be subject to commission; sales entered without an inventory item ID will be included in the non-commissionable sales amount

Step 1: Set items to be subject to commission

  1. Click Maintain, Inventory Items.
  2. Select an applicable Item ID.
  3. Check Subject to commissions.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Repeat these steps for other items as needed.

Step 2: Set up sales reps

  1. Click Maintain, Employees & Sales Reps.
  2. Select an existing employee or create a new one.
  3. To make the employee a sales rep, select either Sales Rep or Both.
Note: Employees set as Sales Rep can’t be paid an hourly wage or salary; if the employee will receive both a normal paycheck and a commission check, select Both.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Repeat for other employees as needed.

Step 3: Access the Sales Rep Report

  1. Click Reports & Forms, Accounts Receivable.
  2. Open the Sales Rep Report.
    • Sales that weren’t assigned to a sales rep can also be viewed on the Sales Rep Report. They’ll be noted as "Undefined Sales"
  3. Click Options to apply date ranges, filters, and sorting options.
