Introduction:    

Sage advisor is a statistic collection program which tracks how users process within Sage 300 ERP product.  The initiative intended to gather data towards improving product functionality.  Each user and screen interaction is logged to a file location.    

    Advisor gathers data in  \Company\Advisorlogs folder, which is collected from all connections to desktop.     

     The logs are then uploaded to Sage server for evaluation.  The upload process can be disabled, logging cannot be disabled.     

     For security reasons, some organizations may wish to disable upload.      

       Resolution       

       Log all users out of Sage 300.       
       Within the Sage 300 Shared\Company folder located the AdvisorLogs folder.. Rename this folder to AdvisorLog-bak.       
       Within the Sage 300\Runtime folder, locate the following file. Sage.CA.SBS.ERP.Sage300.AdvisorUpload.exe.config      
 
        Sage 300 is the location of your Sage 300 Program files.       
 
 
       Make a copy of this file before making any edits..       
       Right-click on the file and click "Edit" to open the file in Notepad.       
       locate the section <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true">        
       Change true to false.
       Save the file.       
       Log back into Sage 300, advisor logging upload should no longer be enabled.       
 
   

      How to disable the Sage Advisor Update service?      

       Resolution       

         In Microsoft Windows, open Component Services.       
       In the console tree, click  Services .       
       Under the  Services  list, select  Sage Advisor Update.        
       Right-click on  Sage Advisor Update .       
       Click  Properties . 
The Sage Advisor Update Properties screen will appear.       
       In the  General  tab, set  Startup type  to  Disabled .       
       Click  Stop .       
       Click  Apply .       
       Click  OK  to close the Sage Advisor Update screen.       
 

      The Sage Advisor Update process is now disabled.
