Error "Could not activate the new fiscal period" when closing a year

Summary

The above error occurs when running the Year-End Wizard in Sage 50 Accounting.

Resolution

  1. Restore the backup made during the Year-End Wizard to an Existing Company.
  2. Run Data Verification.
  3. Re-run the Year-End Wizard and stop on the Begin Close screen.
  4. Uncheck the box for Data Verification on the Begin Close screen.
  5. Click the Begin Close button.
  6. Verify the error no longer occurs.
