CAUTION: Use caution when working with the below product functionality. Always create a backup of your data before proceeding with advanced solutions. If necessary, seek the assistance of a qualified Sage business partner, network administrator, or Sage customer support analyst.

In Sage Fixed Assets:

  1. Replicate the original asset for as many parts as are being split out.
    1. From the Asset Detail view, go to: Asset, Replicate.
    2. Enter the number of copies to create.
    3. Click OK to create copies of the asset.
  2. Inactivate the original asset. (Go to: Asset, Inactivate).
  3. Modify the replicated assets’ Acquisition Value as desired. The total of the replicated assets’ Acquisition Values will be equal to that of the original asset.
    • Note: If the Original asset had the Beginning Date, Beginning YTD, and Beginning Accumulated fields populated, you will need to populate these fields in the replicated assets manually. This will need to be a percentage of the original asset. There may be slight rounding differences.
    • Example: Original asset's Acquired Value is $10,000 and you split it into a $6,000 and a $4,000 asset, 60% of the Beginning Accumulated depreciation will go into the $6,000 asset at the same Beginning date as in the original asset.
  4. Optional: In the Notes Tab of the Inactivated asset and all new replica assets enter notes referencing to how you split the original for a paper trail.

Note: If you use Asset ID, you can assign the same number to all assets to help with reporting.
