Payroll files are stored in different locations. You need to make a backup for each of the following groups of files. See How do I use File Tools to back up data files? for steps.
In your current data folder, back up the following files:
- Current.prt
- History.prt - This file may or may not exist.
Note: If you have never moved checks to history (Tools, Move Checks, Current to History), the History.prt file does not exist. - Master.prm
- System.prs
- Tax.prx
Note: This file can be stored in a custom location. Refer to How do I verify the location of my Payroll tax file? for steps to verify the Tax.prx location.
In your Formula folder, back up the following files:
- Pr.frm
- User.frm
