Common Questions

Q: Why is Sage releasing only one year-end version?
A: By releasing only one year-end version, we’re able to concentrate our efforts on one software version to ensure a high-quality release.

Q: Can I upgrade to the latest version and still process payroll for 2025?
A: Yes, you can upgrade and still process payroll for 2025. Apply the 2026 tax updates after your last payroll in 2025, after closing the Payroll year, and before processing your first 2026 payroll.

Q: Because of timing, I’m unable to upgrade to the 2025 year-end supported version before my first payroll in 2026. Will the 2026 tax tables work for versions 20.1 - 24.2?
A: Yes, the 2026 Tax Tables will function properly, but it's recommended that you upgrade to the 2025 year-end version before running Aatrix reports. See more information about updating taxes.

Q: Why can’t Sage release the year-end version earlier in the year?
A: The year-end version is a government compliance release. We release in December to account for last-minute changes to the legislature or government requirements that occur late in the year. This timeframe ensures that Sage has incorporated all known government-mandated changes for reporting and processing into the software.

Q: How do I receive notifications when updates are available?
A: Log in or sign up to Community Hub and subscribe to the Sage 300 CRE product forum to receive a notification on updates and releases.

Q: Does the year-end release support the version I'm currently running?
A: See the supported versions for both year-end and non-year-end processing.

Your channel partner or consultant can also assist with upgrades.

Q: Does the year-end version include all previous updates and patches?

Q: Do I need to install the year-end version if I don’t use Payroll and Accounts Payable?
A: We still recommend installing the year-end version as it includes other product updates and fixes. Check the 2025 Year-End announcement on Community Hub for release notes. You can determine if you need to install the update if you don’t use Payroll or Accounts Payable.

Q: Do I need to install the year-end version before completing Payroll and Accounts Payable tasks such as closing the year, printing checks, and entering invoices?
A: No. See the FAQ (US) for timing of year-end tasks, steps to take, and when.

Q: Are Payroll tax changes included in the year-end version?
A: No. The year-end version includes any changes to year-end forms, such as W-2s and 1099s. Install the update before you print or file your government forms.
