Summary
When using a network version of Sage BusinessWorks, users must have full control rights to the Sage (parent) folder.
Description
The following messages display as a result of incorrect permission settings:
- No writable share
- File access denied
- Unable to create company
- Unable to achieve an exclusive lock
Resolution
CAUTION: This solution requires advanced knowledge of Windows security and network settings. Sage isn't responsible for any issues that arise from changes to these settings. Ensure you back up all system and application databases necessary for a complete restoration. It's advisable to contact a certified consultant or your system administrator for assistance.
- At the server, right-click the Windows Start button
and choose File Explore.
- Locate the shared folder for Sage BusinessWorks.
EXAMPLE: C:\Sage.
- Right-click the shared folder and select Properties.
- Click the Sharing tab and select the Advanced Sharing... button.
- Select Permissions button.
- Select the Full Control check box for the Sage BusinessWorks users or group. This automatically selects the remaining check boxes.
