Error: "Sage 50 cannot be started..." with security software installed or the Windows firewall turned on

"Sage 50 cannot be started" error occurs when using Windows firewall or Internet security software.

Network set to Public on workstation or server

With a Public network, firewall exceptions for a different profile such as Domain or Private won’t function normally. Contact your IT support to assign the connection to the appropriate network profile. Or add exceptions to the firewall for the appropriate profile.

1. Select Start Control Panel, then select Network & Sharing Center.

Configure firewall and antivirus

• Follow Files to allow through firewall and antivirus for needed security software settings
• Turning off the firewall or antivirus program doesn’t always resolve the issue
• If you don’t know how to allow files through your firewall or antivirus, contact your service provider
• Don't have more than one firewall and one antivirus running at the same time. Doing so can cause a conflict, nullifying both programs
