Error: Input string not in a correct format.

Summary

Input String not in a correct when running open payroll in Sage HRMS

Cause

The error “A string isn’t in the correct format” occurs when HR data transfers to Payroll and data types or formats don’t match.
Even correct data types can fail if the format is invalid for the destination field.

Special characters or values not in the code table can also trigger this error during Open Payroll processing.

Resolution

Resolution one

  1. Go to Setup, Payroll and select Employee Configuration.
  2. Open the configuration that you’re using in the Open Payroll process.
  3. Click "Save" twice.

Resolution two

The message indicates the system can’t complete the employee record. To troubleshoot, check for special characters or invalid code table values in these areas:

  • Employee ID
  • Demographics
  • HR Status
  • Current Job
  • Current Pay

Resolution three

Find any accrual codes that are listed in the Employee Configuration and deselect their mapping.
