Summary

Update Earnings and Deductions in Sage HRMS

Description

Updating earnings and deductions

Resolution

Use the Update Earnings/Deductions window when you want to change an earning or deduction rate, amount, start date, or other field that controls the employee level.

What is the Update Earnings/Deductions function for?

This function enables users to:

  • Modify assigned employee earning/deduction data values
  • Allow the modification of a single or multiple employee records

Function Benefits:

  • Users don’t need to modify the earnings/deductions information for each employee record one record at a time
  • Updates current employee records only

The Update earnings/deduction doesn’t update the Workers compensation code and WCC Group if the field is null/blank. Something must already exist on the employee.

How to use Update Earnings/Deductions:

  1. From the navigation pane select Payroll, Tasks, Update Earnings/Deductions.
  2. In the Earning/Deduction field, choose the earning/deduction for which you want to make changes. The window then displays the fields that can be globally modified for the earning/deduction.
  3. On the upper part of the window, enter the fields to specify which employees you want to update.
  4. In the table portion of the window, choose a field you want to modify,
  5. Enter the information for the chosen field.
  6. In the Type Of Change column, select how you want to change the chosen field.
  7. To restrict the change to employees who currently hold a specific value in the field:
    • In the Match Cur Value? column, double-click the field (or press the spacebar) to choose Yes.
    • To change the Workers' Compensation Code for an earning or deduction, enter the WCC Group in the WCC Group To Match field to restrict the range.
    • In the Current Value to Match field, enter the value by which to restrict the change.
    • To change the Workers' Compensation Code, enter the new WCC Group to replace the existing one.
  8. Enter the New Value or Change By amount to update, increase, or decrease the selected field.
  9. Once the above steps completed, click Update button to make the changes you specified on the window.

NOTE: WC Code and WC Group update only when a value is already present; they apply to existing entries, not empty fields.
